In sublimation printing the colorant exists as a thermally labile solid. When the printed paper-fabric sandwich reaches 195 °C the dye vapour pressure exceeds 3 kPa; the pigment bypasses the liquid state and enters the PET fibre as a super-critical fluid. Because the colour becomes part of the yarn rather than a coating atop it, crock-fastness exceeds grade 4 dry and 3-4 wet, while air permeability remains within 5 % of the untreated greige. The process is water-free, steam-free and generates only recyclable paper waste, making it the preferred choice for eco-conscious brands.
